Tenants insurance is for people who rent their living space, it covers liability as well as coverage for your personal contents.

Yes it is, however freezing of pipes is not covered if you have been away from your home for more than four consecutive days. However, you will still be insured if you arrange for someone to enter your dwelling daily to ensure the heating is being maintained or if you shut off the water supply and drain all of the pipes and appliances.

If your property was damaged or broken into, you should do the following:

  • Document exactly what happened
  • Note the time and location of the incident
  • Take as many pictures/videos of the damage as possible
  • Make a list of any items that are damaged or missing
  • Keep all receipts of any expenses associated with the incident
  • Keep a record of any investigating officers including name, badge number, and occurrence number.
